The week before this I’d climbed a wee hill and managed better than I’d expected, which inevitably led to another question: could I still climb a proper mountain? There was a time when an eight-mile mountain walk wouldn’t have concerned me particularly much, but things had changed and I genuinely wasn’t sure what I was […]
I used to really love climbing mountains. It was one of those things I could disappear off and do without thinking too much about it, but after everything that happened and being unwell, I honestly didn’t know whether I could still do it anymore. I wanted it back in my life, but wanting something and […]
This is the conclusion to the previous week’s adventures with Lora’s rear end, although this time the scenery consisted mainly of a garage floor, a chain and me gradually becoming irritated with a £15 tool from fleabay.
This week’s adventure involved a long and exhausting hike across to the garage. The journey was about 30 feet, the terrain was flat as pancakes and somehow I survived to tell the tale.
I am prone to calling myself a lemon or a plank and I am no always very posh and I get lost sometimes. Also clumsy and can say stupid things completely innocently. 🤡🌚🤔 If you’ve watched any of my videos, you’ve probably already worked out that I’m John. I’m the bloke usually sitting on a […]

After my last ride to Carsphairn, I fancied going back and exploring some of the roads that disappear off into the hills around there. It was a lovely spring day, so Lora and I headed out for a loop along the B729 and B7000, around Culmark, Bennan, Fingland and Mackilston.
The plan for today was actually to take Lora up to Loch Doon, our local loch. It was a beautiful day and I thought it would make a nice little ride, but I’d temporarily forgotten one rather important thing: it was the school holidays.
Sometimes you don’t need to go particularly far to get away from everything. I was feeling a wee bit down with life and the weather was far too nice to sit in the house thinking about it, so I got Lora out and we disappeared into Galloway Forest Park for a while.
After our first little two-mile ride together, it was time for Lora and me to go a bit further. She needed an MOT, which meant riding from Dalmellington into Ayr and back again. It had been four years since I’d ridden her any real distance, so although it was only a trip into town, for […]
