There is a new member of the XploraLora family. Her name is Elizabeth, although Liza Nova will probably appear from time to time as well. 💞 She’s a Benda Napoleon Bob 500, she’s very different from anything I’ve owned for a long time, and buying her wasn’t quite as straightforward a decision as simply deciding […]
This wasn’t going to be a big adventure. Just a wee Sunday ride out on Lora 💞 to give her a run, keep her battery okay and let you know that we’re both still here. I’d also fitted some new dog bones and wanted to make sure everything was all right, so that gave me […]
There is a particular view in Galloway I’ve been trying to get closer to for about three years. I’ve seen it plenty of times from a distance, but I’d never managed to find somewhere that gave me the view I actually wanted. Then, while looking at the map, I noticed a little forest trail that […]
Last year, Lora and I set out on a journey that we never managed to complete. There was somewhere in Galloway I wanted to reach, but for one reason or another it didn’t happen and the destination ended up sitting on my unfinished list for almost a year. I don’t particularly like unfinished lists.
After my last ride to Carsphairn, I fancied going back and exploring some of the roads that disappear off into the hills around there. It was a lovely spring day, so Lora and I headed out for a loop along the B729 and B7000, around Culmark, Bennan, Fingland and Mackilston.
The plan for today was actually to take Lora up to Loch Doon, our local loch. It was a beautiful day and I thought it would make a nice little ride, but I’d temporarily forgotten one rather important thing: it was the school holidays.
Sometimes you don’t need to go particularly far to get away from everything. I was feeling a wee bit down with life and the weather was far too nice to sit in the house thinking about it, so I got Lora out and we disappeared into Galloway Forest Park for a while.
After our first little two-mile ride together, it was time for Lora and me to go a bit further. She needed an MOT, which meant riding from Dalmellington into Ayr and back again. It had been four years since I’d ridden her any real distance, so although it was only a trip into town, for […]
After four years away from riding, I finally got Lora, my 1998 Kawasaki ZX-9R C1, back out on the road. I wasn’t planning on going very far. In fact, the whole ride ended up being about two miles. This was really just a test to see if Lora was OK after all the work I’d […]
